 President

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Serves as liaison from GUSA to the Department of Parks and Recreation.  Works with the County to coordinate programs and develop opportunities to acquire more soccer fields.
  2. Serves as liaison from GUSA to the VYSA.  Works with this organization to run the club according to the guidelines of that organization.
  3. Works with the club lawyer to ensure that the club is in good standing with the IRS and appropriate state agencies.
  4. Prepares an agenda and chairs monthly GUSA meetings.
  5. Answers the concerns of community members and GUSA parents regarding the club.
 
Vice-President
 
Coordinates volunteers from registration forms and designates said volunteers to board members who need help.  The Vice-President also recruits volunteers as requested by board members.
 
Treasurer
  1. Maintains all books and pays bills for GUSA.  Presents monthly financial reports to the board.
  2. Works with the President to develop a seasonal budget.
 
Secretary        
  1. Keeps minutes of the monthly meetings and offers them to the board for approval.
  2. Works with the Vice-President to get parent volunteers to help with mailings for registration and for the annual election for board members.
  3. Works with the Registrar to keep an updated data base to be used for e-mails to parents and to print mailing labels to club members.
  4. With parent volunteers, mails out registration forms to GUSA club members twice a year; distributes registration forms to schools and other designated locations; places registration announcements in the local newspapers.
 
Registrar
 
  1. Collects registration forms and enters information into a data base.
  2. After coaches have been confirmed, rosters children to teams, based on age, sex and number of seasons played.
  3. Maintains data base for use by other officers of the club including but not limited to the Secretary and President.
 
Lower Division Head
 
  1. Oversees teams in the U5, U6 and U8 divisions.  May assign deputy heads to coordinate one or all of the divisions.
  2. Is responsible for contacting individuals who volunteer to coach and assessing their fitness for the job.  Contacts the registrar after coaches are verified so children can be rostered to those teams.
  3. Works with the Head of Coaches to find additional volunteers to coach teams that do not have a coach volunteer.
  4. Reviews team rosters prior to giving them to the coaches. Rosters should be checked for age, sex and prior playing experience.
  5. Sends coaches their rosters, and troubleshoots any problems they may have coordinating their teams.
  6. Assigns practice and game times.  Alerts coaches when uniforms and game balls are ready for the coaches to pick up.
  7. Works with head of coaches to run a coaches meeting two weeks prior to season start.
  8. Works with head of Upper Division and orders uniforms.
 
Upper Division Head
 
In addition to the jobs listed, the Upper Division Head also coordinates with other leagues to develop a play schedule for the children in each division.
 
  1. Oversees teams in the U10, U12, U14 and U19 divisions.  May assign deputy heads to coordinate one or all of the divisions.
  2. Is responsible for contacting individuals who volunteer to coach and assessing their fitness for the job.  Contacts the registrar after coaches are verified so children can be rostered to those teams.

Head of Referees
  1. Recruits qualified referees for each division and each season.
  2. Works with the division heads to schedule referees for home games.
  3. Works with the treasurer and president of the GUSA board to develop a seasonal budget for the referees.
  4. Coordinates with the Treasurer to ensure that the referees are paid for their work.
  5. Works with the coaches and parents to handle any referee complaints.
 
Head of Fields
  1. Works directly with the President to secure permits and schedules for maintaining play fields.
  2. Works with the Secretary to secure of team of volunteers to line fields for play each week.
  3. Is responsible for the condition of nets and other related equipment and presents a budget to the Board each July for expenditures to maintain quality play fields.
 
Head of Coaches
  1. Is responsible for working with division heads to secure coaches for each team in GUSA.
  2. Develops and distributes a coaches packet to each coach.
  3. Holds a mandatory coaches clinic three weeks before each season begins.  Coaches should be required to attend or to send a representative from their team.
 
Head of Fundraising
  1. Contacts businesses and organizes sponsors for GUSA.
  2. Works with businesses and the local rotary or other business organizations to develop a long-term commitment to soccer in the county.
  3. Develops opportunities for capital campaigns to raise money for special projects such as field development.
  4. Bills businesses and works with the treasurer to ensure that all committed funds are paid.
  5. Coordinates recognition program to thank sponsors of the club on an annual basis.
