The Goochland United Soccer Assocation is proud to announce that Sarah Golightly has been elected to serve the club as its new President.  Sarah replaces Raleigh deShazo who’s term expired at the May 2012 Board meeting.

Last season, Sarah served as U12 Division Coordinator and U12 Boys coach.  She has served GUSA as the Boys U12 coach for the past 3 seasons.

Sarah and her family live in Goochland County.  Her son, Jack, plays U12 soccer.  Her daughter, Elizabeth, swims for NOVA.

Other changes approved by the Board during our May meeting included the following:

• Alton Martin - U8 Division Coordinator
• Dave Houck - Recruiting Coordinator
• Stephen Geyer - Coaching Coordinator

We are still looking for volunteers to serve the following roles for the Fall 2012 season:

• U6 Division Coordinator
• U12 Division Coordinator

 "Richmond Kickers Game Day" event a success!

110 of the club’s 125 U8, U10, and U12 players "Played like a Pro" on Saturday, April 21st on the Richmond Kickers home field at City Stadium.

Over 400 GUSA players and family members participated in this great event with the majority staying to enjoy the Kickers Pro Team game versus Orlando City.

GUSA players played 4v4 small-sided games into small goals with their parents, friends, and team supporters enjoying the games from the stands.  At the completion of each divisions games, players and their families enjoyed a pizza party hosted by Papa Johns. 

At the conclusion of the pizza party players had the opportunity to win some great prizes.  One player from each team won a Richmond Kickers soccer ball autographed by the Kickers players. In addition, one lucky player won an autographed David Bulow Kickers jersey, and another won a Kickers jersey autographed by the team.

We would like to thank all of our players, parents, volunteers, and coaches who helped make this event so special for our kids.
